    Deuteronomy 6:5

    And sing His Praise

    The Transfiguration

    Luke 9: 28-36
Now about eight days after these sayings Jesus took with him Peter and John and James, and went up on the mountain to pray. And while he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became dazzling white. Suddenly they saw two men, Moses and Elijah, talking to him. They appeared in glory and were speaking of his departure, which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. Now Peter and his companions were weighed down with sleep; but since they had stayed awake, they saw his glory and the two men who stood with him. Just as they were leaving him, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good for us to be here; let us make three dwellings, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah”—not knowing what he said. While he was saying this, a cloud came and overshadowed them; and they were terrified as they entered the cloud. Then from the cloud came a voice that said, “This is my Son, my Chosen; listen to him!” When the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. And they kept silent and in those days told no one any of the things they had seen.

    Meditation on the Transfiguration

On Mount Tabor Peter, John and James witnessed and experienced the glory of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. It will have stayed with them for the rest of their lives on earth. They saw a foretaste not only of the glory of Jesus, but also the glory and radiance of heaven, to which each one of us is called. When we are blessed with a glimpse, or intuition, of heaven our song strains to rise in joy to praise our radiant Lord.

Moses and Elijah also appeared in glory, with Christ. Here we understand that Christ is the fulfillment of the Law and the Prophets. And how wonderful - Moses, who never entered the promised land, whilst here on earth - is seen in glory with Jesus.

And the Father speaks! 'This is my son, my Chosen; listen to him.' Listen to Him! What a wonderful command!

Peter wishes to remain on the mountain....but they must descend....they must witness to Our Lord

  • Saint Carlo Acutis

Saint Carlo Acutis leveraged and multiplied his teaching with the use of the internet, and also with the use of beauty. His Exhibition of Eucharistic Miracles is both global and exceptionally beautiful.

Saint Carlo Acutis was a totally authentic Christian witness. He himself passionately pursued holiness. His first goal in life was to stay always close to Jesus.

Bodies of work by individual Sistersrs

It will be dependent on the number of Sisters growing, so that the combined skillset can, in the first instance, collaborate on the apostolates we undertake together. But it is envisaged that Sisters will be able to bring their missionary creativity to bear in different ways. For example by writing, icon painting, instagram, Facebook, videos, music. We will ask Saint Carlo for his prayers that our mission can be beautiful and dynamic, like his!

Horarium when 'at home.' Things are informal at the moment but will ultimately be guided formally by the Church. Evolving circumstances will dictate the Horarium to some extent but the aim is to follow a standard Benedictine cycle of prayer.

On the Road / Away on Mission

This will need to be discerned together and with the Church. Mission circumstances are rarely ideal. The difficulties will need to be embraced in a spirit of generosity, good humour, poverty and sacrifice. It is my hope that, with time, invitations will shape themselves around our general pattern of prayer and praise, and that, indeed, our witness of prayer and praise will be intrinsic to our mission. But great flexibility and patience will be required when away from base and we will need to be completely bi-lingual liturgically.

    Anna Johnstone

    Founder, www.UKmiracles.com

    Foundress, walking forwards creating

    Community of the Transfiguration,

    of Saint Carlo Acutis

Anna Johnstone is a British, Catholic convert and former Classical Singer. She read Theology at Cambridge and afterwards embarked on a journey of Music, Prayer and Theology, and professional Care and Governess work that has taken her all over the world.

In 2015 she became the Governess for the siblings of Saint Carlo Acutis, a post she held for three years, in Assisi, and she remains a family friend. Anna was immediately enthralled by Saint Carlo's mission and began www.UKmiracles.com in 2017 whilst she was still based in Assisi.

8 years later, all the strands of the last 35 years are coming together as she walks forwards, with the blessing of her Bishop, in founding the Community of the Transfiguration, of Saint Carlo Acutis.

  • Explanation

An explanation of various other points not covered, by Anna Johnstone, Foundress

    Passion

'At this juncture I don't want to fill in too much detail. I hope to have a great deal of detail by October 2026, via two books - one on dear Saint Carlo Acutis and one on this Community. I believe we will have great clarity before we begin formally. But I hope that there is enough here to stir the hearts of those whom the Holy Spirit may be calling. And I am very happy to answer questions on a one to one.

The active dimension is presently mostly expressed through www.ukmiracles.com, but this is just a beginning.

The contemplative side is expressed in a desire to follow the Rule of St Benedict, and to sing according to the Chant of Solesmes.

I have already lived a wonderful, blessed life with Our Lord, that has spanned two continents, success and failure, sin and repentance, error and conversion. I have spent more than 25 years looking after people professionally; the young and the old, the well and the sick. By extraordinary grace this has included the role of Governess to the siblings of Saint Carlo Acutis, for three years. And I also enjoyed a professional singing career for 7 years. All this journeying has brought me to simplicity. I am astounded by the grace of simply being a baptised Catholic. I am astounded by God's mercy to me, a sinner. I am astounded by the call to Heaven. I am astounded by the Blessed Sacrament! I would be happy to leave this life tomorrow to go to God. But, equally, I am happy to begin this big Chapter 2 here on earth!

I have a confidence in the Rule of St Benedict as something that, together, we can safely abandon ourselves to. I have a confidence that the singing of the Divine Office will give us a freedom and joy as Religious, as Spouses of our Saviour. In giving first priority to this 'work,' which will help us 'always stay close to Jesus,' I think that our creative life and outreach will fall into place. The Rule of St Benedict will help us stay grounded and sound.

Practically, there is a modest starting base, with two wonderful Solesmes Abbeys close by, who can guide and inspire. There is the blessing for 'walking forwards' form our Bishop, the parents of Saint Carlo Acutis and from my spiritual director.

I am not presently veiled. Certainly I would like to be. I think that there is great value, in the times in which we are living, of a clear witness. Presently I wear a very long navy skirt and a light coloured blouse. I am sure that this detail will develop in the Lord's time.

One can only move forwards one step at a time. First of all, one needs to become two, two three, three four. How the next step will come about is a mystery in God's hands.

I very much hope that a proper beginning can be made in October 2026. That will then have to consolidate and settle. Between now and then is a continued time of preparation for me, and a time of enquiry for those who feel that God may be calling them to this. The enquiry can happen through conversation, meeting, accompaniment in the active work, and coming to stay in the starting base. Further retreats can also be organised, as necessary. It is all in the Lord's hands.

Dear Saint Carlo Acutis: Pray for us!'
